The 2022 British 10 oz Queen’s Beast Greyhound coin is the final coin in the Queen’s Beasts series. Featured on this coin is the White Greyhound of Richmond, a heraldic beast inspired by Northern England’s favored breed.
A badge featuring the White Greyhound was held by John Gaunt when he was made first Duke of Lancaster in 1390. Later, the White Greyhound appeared as a statue at the official coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
The Royal Mint has done a magnificent job rendering this majestic animal in .9999 fine silver on the reverse of the coin. You can clearly see the musculature of the White Greyhound as it supports a shield emblazoned with the House of Tudor seal. The obverse features the now classic portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in such great detail by artist Jody Clark.
