The Perth Mint’s Lunar series is a very popular series that honors the animals of the Chinese Lunar Calendar. This coin’s focus is on the Year of the Tiger. The coin’s reverse side has a tiger and it’s cub on a rock with bamboo and ferns in the background. At the top middle of the coin is the Chinese symbol for ‘tiger’ and the word ‘tiger’.On the left side of the coin is the Perth Mint’s mint mark, ‘P’.

The obverse side of the coin has Queen Elizabeth II in profile facing right in Jody Clark’s now famous artwork. The queen looks stately wearing her diadem crown and adorned in her royal jewels. Above her head is ‘Elizabeth II Australia’. Below her is ‘2 oz. 9999 Ag 2 Dollars’. Jody Clark’s initials ‘JC’ can be seen on the left of the queen’s dress.

The Perth Mint, established in 1899, originally was another Royal Mint location but later became what is now considered one of the master mints. Understandably steeped in the traditional ways of producing coins and bullion, the mint has gone on to prove they can evolve and employ modern techniques as well showing masterful use of color and gilding. Over the years the Perth Mint has gone from just making coins for Australia’s legal tender to setting trends in coins and bullion.

Don’t miss out on your opportunity to get the 2022 Australian 2 oz Silver Lunar Tiger. These coins have proven to be very popular and everyone will be looking for them.
