The 2022 2 oz.  Australian Gold Lunar Tiger honors the Year of the Tiger from the Chinese Lunar calendar. This design looks spectacular in bullion grade .9999 fine gold. This coin is part of Perth Mint’s super popular Lunar Series III series of coins with some coins selling out completely.

Key features:

  • 2 oz .9999 fine gold BU grade
  • 200 dollars face value backed by the Australian government
  • Individual coins packaged in protective capsule
  • Obverse image is Jody Clark’s Queen Elizabeth II
  • Reverse image is tiger and Chinese character for tiger

On the reverse side of this coin is a beautiful image of a tiger looking back left toward its tail with its mouth open perched on rock. To the left of the image is the Chinese character for tiger and ‘TIGER 2022’. To the left of these is the Perth Mint’s mint mark, ‘P’. Below the rock, under the lion’s back foot, are the initials ‘MR’ for the artist, Monique Reeves.

On the coin’s obverse side is Queen Elizabeth as depicted by Jody Clark. Clark’s design captures her at age 89 wearing her diadem crown, dangle earrings and necklace. Written above her head is ‘Elizabeth II’ and ‘Australia’. Below her portrait is ‘2 oz 9999 fine gold’ and ‘200 dollars’. Jody Clark’s initials, ‘JC’ can be seen on the queen’s right shoulder.

Founded in 1899 as another location of the Royal Mint, the mint later became the mint for Australia. Australia’s Perth Mint is responsible for minting the legal tender of Australia but also mints commemorative coins and bullion for collectors and investors. Steeped in tradition and expertise with so much experience, the mint has embraced modern minting techniques and has set trends in minting coins and bullion.Over the years they have proven to be masters of metal and beautiful design. Many of the Perth Mint’s series of coins have been hugely successful with many of them selling out altogether.
