The Royal Mint has a reputation of doing impeccable work and this coin is evidence of their attention to detail. Detail is the order of the day with this beautiful coin that shines beautifully in bullion quality silver. This British Royal Arms series has proven to be very popular and in this world of uncertainty, it is nice to see that you can count on this coin to be great every year.
On the obverse side of the coin is Jody Clark’s depiction of Queen Elizabeth with her facing to the right wearing her diadem crown. She looks regal in her royal jewels and crown with the detail being so great that you can see crow’s feet around her eyes. Above her head to the left is ‘2 POUNDS’ which is the face value of the coin. Top right is ‘ELIZABETH II’. Around the bottom of the coin are the initials ‘D.G.REG. F.D.’ which is short for the Latin phrase ‘dei gratia regina fidei defensor’ which means ‘By the grace of God, queen, Defender of the faith”.
On the reverse side of the coin is the Royal Arms in a very detailed design. The arms are made up of a fierce lion on the left which is the Lion of England and the Unicorn of Scotland supporting a shield. On the shield are the parts of the Royal Coat of Arms, the Three Lions in the top and bottom right quadrants, the Lion of Scotland in the top right corner and Harp of Ireland in the bottom left corner. The shield has the Imperial Crown on top of it. At the top of the coin is the year of issue and at the bottom is ‘1 OZ FINE SILVER 999’.
