On the obverse side of this coin is the image of Queen Elizabeth II. She is at the center of a Celtic Cross. Arcing above her head is  ‘QUEEN ELIZABETH II ISLE OF MAN 2021’. At the bottom is ‘5 POUNDS’. The background of the queen’s design as well as the whole cross has a kind of cracked look that makes it look like granite.

The reverse of this coin is an intense rendering of Cernunnos, the pagan forest god of the Celts. The early Christians were horrified by his image in paintings they saw during the Gallo Roman period. They thought it was the image of the devil himself since some of the earlier artists had depicted Satan with horns similar to Cernunnos. Therefore, they believed the Celtics were ‘devil worshippers’. Cernunnos is shown here in a kind of crouching stance. On one hand, he holds a ‘torque’, a symbol of wealth and power’. With his other hand, he seems to be holding back a snake. Above his head are ‘CERNUNNOS’ and ‘HORNED GOD’. The whole design has him against a CELTIC CROSS’. The ultra-high detail shows off his bulging muscles while the antique finish gives it an almost 3D effect.
