The obverse side of the coin features a depiction of a battle with the Knights of Malta. A footman is in the foreground and literally pops out of the coin holding a sword that has been colored gold in contrast to the silvers and grays of the rest of the scene. Behind the footman are two knights on horseback wielding lances and charging. Behind this scene is the Verdala Palace. Arched above this scene are ‘KNIGHTS OF THE PAST’ and ‘10 EURO’. 

 

The reverse of the coin shows a Maltese knight holding a shield in front of him. On the shield is the Central Bank of Malta coat of arms. On the coat of arms is the Latin phrase ‘FIDUCIA FORTIS 1968’ which means ‘In confidence, strength’. Above the shield is ‘MALTA’. At the bottom right of the edge is ‘2 oz Ag 999.9’. At the bottom is ‘2021’.
