Few U.S. gold coins command the same instant recognition and lasting prestige as the $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle. Struck during the height of America’s classical coinage era, this iconic gold piece represents both the nation’s economic strength and its artistic ambition at the turn of the 20th century.

Offered here in brilliant uncirculated (BU) condition, this Double Eagle retains strong detail, vibrant luster, and sharp design elements that highlight why it remains one of the most sought-after gold coins ever produced.

For investors, it delivers substantial gold content backed by historic U.S. minting. For collectors, it offers a timeless design widely regarded as the pinnacle of American coin artistry.

Key Features:

  • Purity and Weight: 0.900 fine gold, containing 0.9675 troy oz of pure gold

  • Metal Type: Gold

  • Obverse Design: Lady Liberty striding forward with torch and olive branch

  • Reverse Design: A majestic eagle in flight above a rising sun

The obverse showcases a bold and dynamic image of Liberty stepping confidently toward the viewer. She holds a torch to symbolize enlightenment and an olive branch representing peace, while rays of sunlight rise behind her. The flowing gown, strong posture, and radiating background give the design a sense of motion and optimism rarely seen in U.S. coinage of the era.

On the reverse, a powerful eagle soars across the coin’s surface, wings outstretched as the sun rises below. The composition emphasizes freedom, strength, and national renewal, reinforced by the expansive sky and clean, balanced layout. The raised details and layered textures are especially striking on coins preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition.

First introduced in the early 1900s, the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle marked a dramatic shift away from rigid, utilitarian designs. Its sculptural depth and artistic ambition set a new standard for American coins and continue to influence modern minting.

What sets this coin apart is its rare balance of investment-grade gold content and elite numismatic appeal. Unlike modern bullion, each piece carries genuine historical significance, having circulated—or been stored—during a transformative era in U.S. monetary history.

The $20 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle stands at the intersection of fine art, American history, and tangible wealth. With nearly one full ounce of gold and one of the most celebrated designs ever struck by the U.S. Mint, this BU example offers enduring value on multiple levels.

Add this legendary gold coin to your collection or portfolio today and own a piece of history that continues to shine across generations.

I was hoping for another “no motto” but not so lucky. The one I got was in excellent condition with nice luster and very few dings though. I’m hoping spot will drop a little so I can afford another. Where will I get it, Hero of course.

Thanks again for a beautiful coin. I have ordered a couple of these in the past and this one is the best of all. Lots of luster and an added bonus, no motto. Exactly what I wanted. Barely any bag marks on the rim.
