Two Ounces of Silver Maple
This is a two ounce silver coin from the Royal Canadian Mint, .9999 fine, with two sugar maple leaves on the reverse instead of the single leaf of the one ounce Maple. It is legal tender in Canada at 10 dollars, and this listing ships one coin from a modern year of our choice.
The Twin Leaves and the Effigy
The reverse, by Celia Godkin, sets a large sugar maple leaf and a smaller one together in the field, veins and serrated edges struck sharp, with CANADA across the top and FINE SILVER 2 OZ ARGENT PUR around the lower rim in both official languages. The 9999 purity mark sits on either side of the leaves and the date is in the field. The obverse carries the reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II on older coins and King Charles III on newer ones, over the Mint’s fine radial-line background.
Condition and Year, Straight
These are bulk-struck bullion coins, tubed by the hundred, so expect contact marks, and Canadian silver in particular can show milk spots, small cloudy patches that appear over time. A coin may also carry light rim dings. It is sold as Brilliant Uncirculated on the strike, not as a flawless coin. You also do not pick the year or whether the obverse is the Queen or the King.
Why the Mint’s Name Carries
The Royal Canadian Mint built the .9999 silver standard, and it layers security into every Maple: precise radial lines across the fields, a micro-engraved maple leaf privy carrying the year, a serrated edge, and the Bullion DNA system dealers can scan. That, plus worldwide recognition, keeps a Twin Maple easy to sell anywhere. At two ounces the premium per ounce also runs lower than on a one ounce Maple.
Specifications
Each coin is two troy ounces of .9999 fine silver, 38 mm across with a serrated edge and a 10 dollar Canadian face value, struck to Brilliant Uncirculated standard by the Royal Canadian Mint. There is no mintage limit. The thickness and current packaging are on the Specifications tab.
Twin Maple FAQ
What year will I get?
A modern Twin Maple from stock. The design has been in production for years, so the coin may be dated any of them, with a Queen Elizabeth II obverse on earlier dates and King Charles III on later ones. Specific years and effigies cannot be requested.
How is it different from a 1 oz Silver Maple?
It holds twice the silver and shows two maple leaves rather than one, at a slightly lower premium per ounce. The tradeoff is that one ounce Maples are the more common trade unit, so a 2 oz can be a touch slower to move, and you sell it whole rather than an ounce at a time.
What condition are these coins in?
Brilliant Uncirculated, but bulk-handled. Expect light marks and possible spotting. RCM silver is known for milk spots, which can develop after minting and are not handling damage. If you want a spot-free coin, buy a graded one.
What are the security features?
The Mint puts four on every Maple: radial machined lines that read as a light-play pattern, a micro-engraved maple leaf privy with the last two digits of the year, a serrated edge, and Bullion DNA, an anti-counterfeit scan dealers can run. They are why the fields look finely textured.
Is this coin IRA eligible?
Yes. At .9999 fine and struck by a sovereign mint, the Twin Maple meets the silver standard for a precious metals IRA, the same as a 1 oz Silver Maple, and a custodian can hold it.
