The Morgan Silver Dollar may well be the most sought after coin in history. It first was minted from 1878-1904. It was feared that this design was lost forever as there were only a few coins left and they were in rough condition. They were reintroduced for a limited time in 1921. These are from the 1921 mintage and are in brilliant uncirculated (BU) condition.

Key features:

  • Contains .7734 Troy oz of actual silver content.
  • Brilliant Uncirculated condition
  • Face value of $1 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • Obverse features the left-profile portrait of Liberty.
  • Reverse includes the American bald eagle.

The 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar is highly sought after due to its short mintage and perhaps due to the fact that we once thought we would never see this design again because the original run coins from 1878-1904 are nearly all gone. The silver dollar came back in 1921 and it was decided that it would have the Morgan design. The next year this design was replaced. That year, the Philadelphia Mint struck 44.69 million coins with no mint mark. Another 20.34 million were struck by the Denver Mint with a D mint mark. The San Francisco Mint minted 21.695 million with their S mint mark.

The Morgan Silver Dollar offered here are all 1921 coins and are in BU condition. The mint marks will vary depending on availability. Statistically, the order of likelihood of getting a coin from a certain mint are as follows with 1 being the most likely: 1. Philadelphia Mint 2. Denver Mint 3. San Francisco. BU condition or brilliant uncirculated means the coin has never been uncirculated and maintains the coin’s luster.

The obverse side of the coin has a portrait of Lady Liberty where she is facing to the left wearing a phrygian cap. Around her image are 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies. Above her head is ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM. Below her is 1921.

The reverse side has an American bald eagle clutching arrows in its left talon and an olive branch in its right. Around the top edge of the coin is ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Right underneath this text is ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’. Under the eagle is ‘ONE DOLLAR’.
