Who Asahi Is

Asahi Refining is an LBMA accredited refiner that runs the former Johnson Matthey plants in Salt Lake City and Brampton, Ontario. Its 10 oz bar is plain bullion. The front carries the Asahi Refining name and logo above a framed FINE SILVER 999 panel with the troy weight, and the back is tiled edge to edge with the Asahi logo as a security texture. There is no design to pay extra for.

 

What You Are Actually Buying

A bar like this is almost all metal and little else, so keep the seal intact if you can. The sealed plastic and the stamped weight and purity are what a future buyer checks. Silver bars also pick up small spots and edge marks over time, and a stray mark on a bullion bar does not change what it is worth.
