Since their introduction in 2016, the Australian Kangaroo coin has become very popular and a favorite of collectors. In a world of change and uncertainty, it is nice to know that you can count on this coin to deliver every year. 

 

On the obverse side of the coin is Queen Elizabeth II as designed by Jody Clark. This version of the Queen’s portrait features the queen dressed in her diadem crown and pearls. Clark depicts the queen in such great detail you can even see her crow’s feet around her eyes. Above her head is ‘ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA’. Below her image is ‘1 DOLLAR’. On her right collar are the initials, ‘JC’ for Jody Clark. 

 

The reverse side has an Australian kangaroo in full bounce. Behind it is a sunburst. This image has been the same image on this coin since it started. Above the image is ‘AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO’. Below it is the year of issue and ‘1 oz 9999 SILVER’. To the right of the image is a ‘P’ for Perth Mint. Around the image are wavy lines created by micro-laser. This is an anti-counterfeiting measure.
