The first gold dollars produced during the Gold Rush were roughly a half inch in diameter and were produced from 1849-1854. The Liberty Head coin is loved by collectors for how rare they are particularly in great condition like this Extra Fine (XF) condition. They also love the gold content which was .90 fine gold. This makes it attractive to investors and collectors. The coin you receive has a date from 1849-1854 and is dependent on stock on hand.

Key features:

  • Made of 0.048375 troy oz. .90 fine gold
  • The coin you receive has a date from 1849-1854 and is dependent on stock on hand.
  • Face value of $1 backed by the US Mint
  • Condition is Extra Fine(XF)

This version of Lady Liberty on the obverse of this coin is a neoclassical rendition. She was inspired by the Greco-Roman artists and is shown in profile with thick curls. She is wearing a thick crown. Framing her face are thirteen stars symbolizing the thirteen colonies. At the bottom of the coin is the year the coin was issued. The year of coin you get is dependent on the stock on hand.

The reverse side of the coin has two laurel sprigs framing ‘1 DOLLAR’. Under this is the date of the coin’s issue. In this case the date is between 1849-1854 and is dependent on stock on hand. Around this image is ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’. This is the Type 1 design with the closed wreath that was used on most of the coins during this period. The Type 2 design has smaller laurel sprigs and is referred to as the open wreath design.

We don’t know how long we can keep these extra fine (XF) versions of this $1 Liberty Head Gold Coin in stock. These coins are limited to stock and hand so the year will vary from 1849-1854. This is your opportunity to own a piece of history. Once they are gone we don’t know if we can get more so get yours today.
