This is one gram of .9995 fine platinum, about 0.03 of a troy ounce, in a used bar from a mint of our choosing. It is the cheapest way to hold a physical platinum bar, and it is still a steep price for the metal in it. If you want platinum by weight, this is not the efficient way to buy it.

What “Any Mint, Any Condition” Means

You get one 1 gram bar that Hero Bullion selects from stock. It could be from any private mint, with whatever design and markings that mint uses, and it is a used bar, so expect surface marks. It may come in a card, in a flip, or loose with no packaging at all. You cannot request a mint, a design, a condition or a card.

Why It Costs So Much Over the Platinum

Two things stack up. First, a 1 gram bar carries the highest premium per gram of any platinum, because the cost of making and handling a tiny bar is spread across almost no metal. Second, platinum trades in a thin market that leans on industrial demand and moves sharply, so spreads are wide. Priced against the melt value of one gram, this bar makes little sense. What You Give Up

You give up every choice except the weight. The mint, the design, the condition and the packaging are ours to decide, and none can be requested after ordering. Bars are used and may show scratches, toning or handling wear. An assay card is not promised, so a bar can arrive loose, which also makes it harder to resell. Order more than one and expect a mix.

What will I actually receive?

One used 1 gram platinum bar, chosen by us from current stock. Any private mint, any design, .9995 fine, in used condition, and it may or may not come with an assay card.

Why does it cost so much more than 1 gram of platinum?

Because almost all of the price is not the metal. A gram bar is the most expensive platinum by weight in any form, and platinum’s thin, volatile market widens the gap between what you pay and what the gram is worth as metal.

What condition will the bar be in?

Used. Expect marks, toning or scratches from handling and storage. Any mint markings on a bar stay readable, and the platinum content is unaffected by wear.

Is this a sensible way to buy platinum?

Only for a small taste of it. Per gram it is the most expensive platinum you can buy. For platinum by weight at a workable premium, a 1 ounce bar or coin gives far more metal per dollar.

Is this bar IRA eligible?

Treat it as no. A platinum IRA needs bars from an approved refiner in acceptable condition, and a used gram bar from an unknown mint meets neither test. This is a bar to hold, not one for an account.
