The 1/4 oz American Platinum Eagle carries a quarter troy ounce of .9995 fine platinum with the full backing of the United States government. As the official platinum bullion coin of the U.S. Mint, it holds a $25 legal tender face value and trades with the recognition and liquidity that only a sovereign coin commands. The quarter-ounce size opens platinum ownership at a fraction of the cost of a full ounce.

Key Features:

  • Purity and Weight: 1/4 troy ounce of .9995 fine platinum
  • Metal Type: Investment-grade platinum bullion with a $25 face value, IRA eligible
  • Obverse: The Statue of Liberty in a close facial portrait, with LIBERTY and the national motto
  • Reverse: A soaring bald eagle above a rising sun

The obverse presents John Mercanti’s portrait of the Statue of Liberty, cropped tight to her face so her steady gaze meets the viewer directly. The rays of her crown extend upward through the word LIBERTY arcing across the rim, and her raised torch arm is just visible at the left edge. The date of issue and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST sit in the right field beside her cheek.

The reverse features Thomas D. Rogers Sr.’s bald eagle in flight, wings stretched wide as it soars above a sun rising behind the curve of the earth, its rays fanning across the lower field. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA spans the top rim, with the inscriptions .9995 PLATINUM 1/4 OZ. at the right and the $25 denomination at the bottom. Both designs have appeared on the bullion Platinum Eagle since the series launched in 1997, the first platinum coin ever issued by the U.S. Mint.

Each coin comes in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition, and dates are of our choosing based on available stock. At .9995 fineness the coin exceeds IRS purity requirements and is fully eligible for precious metals IRAs.

Platinum remains one of the scarcest metals in the bullion market, and the Eagle is its most trusted American form. Order the 1/4 oz American Platinum Eagle today and put sovereign platinum in your portfolio.
