This listing is half a troy ounce of .999 fine silver in a privately minted round, and the mint, the design and the condition are whatever we have in stock when your order is packed. You choose the weight, and we choose everything else. What Turns Up in an Order

Half-ounce rounds come from many private mints and refiners, so no two orders look quite alike. You might get a tribute to the Morgan dollar, an eagle in flight, an Indian head profile, a mint’s own logo, or a plain stacker round marked only HALF TROY OUNCE and 999 FINE SILVER. Some are struck with a design on both faces, others carry a design on one side and the weight and purity on the other. The photo shows the kind of mix we see, not necessarily the rounds you will receive.

Why Halves Cost More per Ounce

Two half-ounce rounds cost more than one full ounce. A mint spends nearly as much striking a small round as a large one, and that cost is spread across half the silver, so the premium per ounce is higher on every half-ounce round, from any maker. That is the price of smaller pieces. If you want the most silver for your money, buy ounces. If you want silver you can split, give or trade in smaller amounts, halves do that job.

Condition, Without the Gloss

Our Specifications tab lists these rounds as used, and many come to us from the secondary market. Some arrive bright and untouched. Others show toning, spotting or fingerprints, light scratches or edge wear from past handling and storage. None of that changes the silver inside, but if surface matters to you, a specific new product is the better buy.

Does a half-ounce round cost more per ounce than a 1 oz round?

Yes. Striking costs are spread over less silver, so two halves cost more than one ounce. You are paying for the smaller size.

Can I choose the mint or design?

No. Rounds are pulled from whatever private-mint stock is on hand when your order is packed, and a multi-round order can be a mix of mints and designs.

Why buy half ounces instead of full ounces?

For flexibility. Smaller pieces are easier to give as gifts, to trade in small amounts, or to sell a little at a time without parting with a full ounce.

Is this round IRA eligible?

We cannot confirm it on this listing. IRA custodians generally accept silver rounds only from approved refiners or national mints, and the mint here changes from order to order. If you are buying for an IRA, choose a named product and confirm it with your custodian.

Will my rounds be new?

Not necessarily. They are listed as used, and condition ranges from untouched to toned or handled. The weight and purity do not change.
