The 1/2 oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin from the Royal Canadian Mint is the newest release of the long-running yearly revival of the Gold Maple Leaf Coins. The ½ Oz version was first released in 1986 by the mint, and it has remained a smashing hint since then.

It isn’t just Canadian collectors who are interested in this exciting coin; bullion fans all over the world prize the Canadian Gold Maple for its intricate design, purity, and collectible value.

Struck using half a Troy ounce of pure .9999 gold, this Maple Leaf Coin holds significant value for its gold content alone. But the piece of bullion is also respected for its place in the larger collection of similar coins from the Canadian Royal Mint. The original edition of the coin was only available in a weight of one ounce.

The ½ ounce edition was first released in 1986, four years after the coin’s design was first unveiled.

Key Features:

  • .9999 pure gold.
  • Backed by the Canadian government (face value: $20 CAD).
  • Obverse depiction: Queen Elizabeth II in various artistic depictions.
  • Reverse depiction: The classic Canadian sugar maple leaf.

Buyers of this deal will receive one ½ Oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin from a random year. This carries with it the possibility of multiple designs.

On the obverse, different artistic representations of Queen Elizabeth II are featured. Coins first released in years from 1986 to 1989 will include a young version of Queen Elizaeth. From 1990-2002, she ages to reflect her maturity during her reign. Coins published after 2002 will show the Queen as depicted by Susana Blunt, the latest effigy used by the Royal Canadian Mint.

We’re a big fan of this unique variety of designs. Throughout the years, the Queen’s growth during her reign is directly reflected on the front of these historic coins. This provides collectors with a unique link to the history of both Canada and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Collectors who have remained faithful in their collecting of this exciting series can literally watch Queen Elizabeth grow older before their very eyes.

The reverse-side depiction of the coin has remained relatively unchanged through the years, and with good reason. The classic image of the Canadian sugar maple leaf has been a symbol for the country, its culture, and its people for centuries. The iconic image is textured and intricately etched into this gold coin; the fineness of the .9999 pure gold striking only further highlights the beauty of the sugar maple leaf. This reverse side also includes the core information about the coin and its mintage, including the country of origin, the purity, and its weight.

Fans of either Canadian or Royal British history will love these coins. Purchases are for a ½ Oz Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Coin from a random year. Depictions of the coin vary based on the year, while the classic maple leaf and the high .9999 pure gold strike remain the same throughout the history of this exciting coin series.
