The obverse side has the Statue of Liberty viewed in a different way than what we are used to seeing. Here we have a close up of her face. With this view and with detail, we can see the lines in her neck and her kind but determined eyes. She really is the face of Liberty in this design. From the individual hairs on her head to the folds of her robe, the artist really captures all the detail of this great sculpture. Above her head is ‘LIBERTY’. The reverse side of the coin has another icon of America, the American bald eagle flying. The eagle is captured here in great detail and seems to exude freedom as it flies across the sky with the sun shining below. Above the eagle is ‘THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’.
