The Seated Liberty 1oz Copper Round is a tribute to the Seated Liberty design that was used on Silver Half Dollars, quarters, dimes and half-dimes during their run from 1836 to 1891. These coins were popular for their design and later for the fact that they were 90% silver. This design is a rendition of the classic Seated Liberty design but now minted in 1 AVDP oz of fine copper. This makes for a more affordable way to own this classic design.
Key features:
- Made from 1 AVDP oz of .999 fine Copper.
- Inspired by Seated Liberty design used in silver coins from 1836-1881
- The obverse side of the coin has Seated Liberty as she appeared on the half-dollar in 1800s
- On the reverse are several uniquely American icons including a shield with eagle wings coming out of it with an American flag waving behind it.
This coin is both an homage to a classic coin and a bold celebration of America.
On the obverse side is Seated Liberty, the same Seated Liberty that adorned silver half-dollars, quarters, dimes, and half-dimes before legislation dictated that the silver content in the coins be lowered from the 90% that was the standard at that time. She is holding a pole with a small flag on it in her left hand. At her feet is a shield with ‘LIBERTY emblazoned on it. Above the image, to the right and left are a total of 13 stars for the original 13 colonies. At the bottom is ‘1839
The reverse side has a host of patriotic American icons. Here is a shield with American eale wings coming out of it. On the shield is ‘USA’. Below the shield, to the left and two the right are trios of stars. Behind the eagle-wing shield is an American flag waving in the background. At the top is ‘COPPER .999 FINE’.
