At her feet is Washington D.C and the sun is shown rising behind her. She is carrying a flaming torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. Written above her head is the word ‘Liberty’. Surrounding Liberty’s image are fifty stars representing the fifty states of the U.S. 

 

On the reverse side of the coin is an image of a shield with eagle wings. The shield has three stars on it. Below the shield is ‘USA’. Above the winged shield is an American flag waving. Written at the top of the coin is ‘COPPER .999 FINE’. At the bottom of the coin is ‘ONE AVDP OUNCE’.
