The Design
A state-shaped Ohio badge sits at the top of the obverse, Birthplace of Aviation on a ribbon behind it, with a vintage biplane flying over a city skyline and a river on the left. STACKING runs across the center in large bold navy letters, a golden sunburst radiating out behind it, and a wheat field fills the bottom of the plate. A biplane over the skyline, the state’s aviation history worked into the corner. A tree, a hiker, and a dog on a trail sit on the right, and a corner tab reads 2027, styled like the plate’s registration sticker. The reverse drops the color entirely: an engraved American flag with a dashed road line running through the stripes, and STACKIN’ ACROSS AMERICA across the lower half.
An Avoirdupois Ounce, Not a Troy Ounce
The reverse marks the weight as 1oz AVDP. That’s the avoirdupois ounce, the one a kitchen scale reads in, not the troy ounce that silver and gold bullion is weighed in.
