In 1878 there was much rejoicing at the release of the 1878 Morgan Silver Dollar. After a five-year hiatus following the 1873 Silver Coin Act, the US Mint was once again offering Silver Dollars again. This design replaced the design used prior to 1873. In 1878 the Morgan Silver Dollar was introduced. This is the Morgan 1 oz Silver Dollar in VG+ (Choice Very Good) condition.

The reverse side of the coin has the heraldic eagle with wings spread out. Morgan’s version of the heraldic eagle doesn’t have a shield with it. Above the eagle is ‘UNITED STATES of AMERICA.’ Just below these words is ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’, Below the image is ‘ONE DOLLAR’.
