The Morgan Silver Dollar was produced from 1878-1904 and then for a one year period in 1921. During this short time,it cemented itself in the minds of collectors as a must-have coin. Collectors prefer the coins from the 1878-1904 era since they are seemingly hard to get. These particular coins are rated at good or even higher. Good condition means they are quite worn but you can still see the dates and the design can still be made out.

Key features:

  • Good or better condition
  • Face value of $1 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • Obverse features the left-profile portrait of Liberty.

  • Dates range from 1878-1904 depending on stock on hand

It was once feared that the Morgan design was lost forever. The only remaining ones were in very rough shape. In 1921 when they decided to bring back the design for the silver dollars that were back in production, there was a collective sigh of relief. The mints produced over 87 million of the Morgan designed coins until the design was replaced in 1922. These coins are even more sought after than the 1921 ones because these were the original ones. Also, nobody really knows how many still exist today. These coins are in good condition which means they are pretty worn but you can still make out their design and date. The Pre ‘21 Morgan Silver Dollar offered here are all dated before 1921 and are in good or better condition. The mint marks will vary depending on availability and can be from any of the mints that made coins during that period and include Philadelphia, Carson City, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Denver. The obverse side of the coin has a portrait of Lady Liberty where she is facing to the left wearing a Phrygian cap. Around her image are 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies. Above her head is ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM. Below her is the date.

The reverse side has an American bald eagle clutching arrows in its left talon and an olive branch in its right. Around the top edge of the coin is ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Right underneath this text is ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’. Under the eagle is ‘ONE DOLLAR’.

The pre-21 Morgan Silver Dollar is an excellent opportunity to buy a piece of coin history. These are in good or better condition which so you can still see the design and make out the date. Get yours today and add this iconic coin to your collection.
