The 10 Peso Mexican Gold Coin is an example of the high-quality collectors have come to expect from the Banco de Mexico. Crafted from .2411 troy oz of .90 pure gold, these coins really stand out in design and are part of a rich history the peso represents to Mexico. The year and condition you receive depends on stock on hand.

Key features:

  • Made of .2411 Troy oz of .90 pure gold
  • Year and condition vary depending on stock on hand
  • Face value of 10 pesos is backed
  • Obverse has the image of Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla
  • Reverse side has Mexico’s National Coat of Arms an Eagle with a snake in its mouth
  • Diameter: 22.5mm
  • Thickness: 1.5mm

The obverse side of the coin features the image of one of Mexico’s greatest heroes, Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. Costilla, formerly a pastor, was the leader of a group of civilians that fought in the Mexican War for Independence. He became a martyr for the people as he was executed by firing squad. The image here is a profile of him facing to the left. Below the image to the left is ‘DIEZ PESOS’. Underneath the image on the right side is an ‘M’, the mint mark for the Banco de Mexico. Near the mint mark is the year the coin was issued.

On the reverse side of the coin is Mexico’s National Coat of Arms. This image recreates the scene the Aztecs came upon where they witnessed a Mexican Gold Eagle with a rattlesnake in its mouth. They believed this was a sign that told them this was where they needed to build their great city. That city became Mexico City. Here is the eagle standing on a cactus using its beak and claws to subdue the snake. Above the image is ‘ESTRADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS’ which means the United States of Mexico.

The Mexican 10 Peso Gold Coin is a great opportunity to buy a more affordable amount of gold and buy a part of Mexican history at the same time. The image of Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla is a cherished part of the history of Mexico and the peso itself is a distinct part of the country’s history. Get yours today.
