A Full-Color Indiana Plate, Struck in Copper
The Indiana Stacking Across America 1 oz Copper Bar takes a state license plate and puts it on the obverse of a bar, full color, the way the state prints its own plates. The reverse turns plain, engraved copper, an American flag and the series name. It holds one avoirdupois ounce of .999 fine copper.
The Design
INDIANA arches across the top of the obverse in navy blue, with STACKING running through the center in bold block letters over a covered bridge, a creek, pine trees on both sides, rolling hills, two clouds, and a pair of birds near the bridge. A green corner tab reads 2027, standing in for the plate’s registration sticker, and the corners carry the same mounting-slot cutouts as a real plate. A working license plate, shrunk onto a bar. The reverse drops the color: an engraved flag with a dashed road line running through the stripes, and STACKIN’ ACROSS AMERICA across the lower half.
An Avoirdupois Ounce, Not a Troy Ounce
The reverse marks the weight as 1oz AVDP. That is the avoirdupois ounce, the everyday one, not the troy ounce that silver and gold bars are weighed in. A different ounce, so it does not sit on a scale the same way a 1 oz silver bar does, even with the same “1 oz” on the label.
Copper’s own metal value is small next to what a colorized, designed bar like this one costs. Priced for the design, not the copper inside it, the same as any colorized copper collectible on the market.
How It’s Marked
AVDP and .999 CU are engraved into the reverse itself, next to the flag, not printed on a card or a label. Stamped into the metal, so it reads the same off the bar as it does here.

Indiana Stacking Across America Copper Bar FAQ
Is this real .999 copper?
Yes. .999 CU is engraved directly into the reverse. .999 fine copper, marked on the bar itself.
Is an avoirdupois ounce the same as a troy ounce?
No. Silver and gold bullion is weighed in troy ounces, and this bar is marked 1oz AVDP, the avoirdupois ounce. Two different ounces, so weight comparisons across metals need the conversion, not just the label.
Is this bar worth its price in copper?
No. Copper’s melt value is small, and a colorized bar like this one is priced for the design, not the metal. That holds for copper collectibles generally, not just this piece.
What does the design show?
The obverse is a full-color Indiana license plate: STACKING across the center, a covered bridge and countryside scene below it, dated 2027. The reverse is engraved copper, an American flag with a road running through the stripes and the words Stackin’ Across America. One design per side, color on the front, plain copper on the back.
Is this part of a larger series?
The reverse names it Stackin’ Across America, a series built around state license plate designs. Named on the bar, one state per release.
