This is the classic Nativity scene where Mary and David couldn’t find room in any of the inns in town and were offered the place where the animals were kept. This is where they bedded down for the night and this is where Jesus was born. His bed was a manger, a wooden trough for the animals to eat out of. Christians celebrate the irony of the Son of God lying in a manger. This scene is recreated in great detail with David standing near Mary with a shepherd’s staff in his hand. Mary is holding the baby Jesus. Under them is the manger while an oxen and a donkey are moving in close seemingly to check out the baby. Above this scene is ‘UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN’. Under the scene is ‘O COME LET US ADORE HIM’.
