The Royal Canadian Mint has produced the Gold Maple Leaf series since 1979, earning a reputation for purity and consistency that makes it one of the most trusted bullion programs in the world. The 1 gram Maplegram brings that same standard to its smallest format — an entry point into Canadian gold that requires minimal outlay while delivering verified .9999 fine gold in a piece that carries full legal tender status.

Key Features:

  • Purity & Weight: 1 gram of .9999 fine gold (99.99% pure)
  • Face Value: $0.50 CAD, legal tender of Canada
  • Obverse Design: Effigy of the reigning Canadian monarch — depending on year of issue, either the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II or King Charles III by Steven Rosati; denomination and country of issue inscribed
  • Reverse Design: The iconic sugar maple leaf at center, surrounded by precisely machined radial lines; inscribed “CANADA,” “.9999,” “FINE GOLD 1g OR PUR,” and the year of issue
  • Condition: Random year; new

The reverse is the visual heart of the coin. A detailed sugar maple leaf sits at center, its lobes and veining rendered with the fine engraving quality the Royal Canadian Mint applies consistently across the Gold Maple Leaf series. Radiating outward from behind the leaf, precisely machined micro-engraved radial lines cover the coin’s field — a security feature unique to the series that makes counterfeiting exceptionally difficult and gives the coin its characteristic sunburst appearance. “CANADA” arcs above, purity and weight in both English and French run below the leaf, and the year of issue is struck within the design. The warm, deep yellow of .9999 fine gold is particularly pronounced in this format given the coin’s high purity.

The obverse carries the portrait of the reigning Canadian monarch. Coins from earlier years feature the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II; more recent issues bear the portrait of King Charles III by Canadian sculptor Steven Rosati. Specific year received will vary based on current inventory.

Each coin is individually sealed in a tamper-evident assay card certified by the Royal Canadian Mint, with a unique serial number confirming weight and purity. The slim, compact format stores easily and presents well as a gift or starter piece.

At one gram, this coin is one of the most accessible ways to own a Royal Canadian Mint bullion coin outright. Add it to your cart today.
