The obverse of the coin has the image of Queen Elizabeth II. This portrait of her is referred to as the Second portrait and shows her facing to the right. She is wearing a tiara and is not wearing a necklace or earrings. Arched over her head is, “COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMA ISLANDS’. Below her portrait is ‘ELIZABETH II’.

On the reverse of the coin is a picture of two flamingos facing toward each other and standing in the water. To the right and left of them are flowers. Behind them, the sun is setting on the ocean. Above them is ‘TWO DOLLARS’ and the year of issue. At the bottom right is an ‘F’ for the Franklin Mint.
