Speculative future-themed colorized Silver Eagles have carved out a genuine niche in the collectible bullion market, and this 2026-dated Conquest of Mars edition pushes that concept into science fiction territory. Built on a genuine 1 oz American Silver Eagle, the coin pairs the Mint’s official eagle reverse — given a ruthenium-toned finish — with a fully colorized obverse imagining Lady Liberty as a Mars-bound astronaut. Production is limited to 500 pieces, giving collectors of novelty and space-themed silver a defined ceiling.
Key Features:
- Purity: .999 fine silver
- Weight: 1 troy oz
- Diameter: 40.60 mm
- Mintage: Limited to 500 pieces
- Finish: Ruthenium, rose gold, and full color application
- Obverse (Eagle side): United States Mint’s standard Walking Eagle design rendered in dark ruthenium tone with rose gold highlighting; bald eagle descending with wings spread, talons reaching for a perch; a field of stars fills the background behind the bird; “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER” inscribed
- Reverse (Custom design): Full-color composite depicting a female astronaut in a NASA spacesuit carrying an American flag over one shoulder and an olive branch over the other; Mars landscape with drilling rig and habitat structures in the background; a large planet visible in the sky; “LIBERTY” arcs across the top; “2026” inscribed at the bottom
The eagle-side face takes the familiar U.S. Mint design and applies a dark ruthenium plating with rose gold accenting across the eagle’s feathers and the surrounding star field, creating strong tonal contrast against the coin’s plain background. The effect transforms the standard bullion reverse into something closer to a collector’s finish, distinct from the natural silver tone used on most Eagles.
The custom obverse is the coin’s centerpiece. A modern reinterpretation of Walking Liberty appears as an astronaut striding across the Martian surface, an American flag draped and flowing behind her in place of traditional robes, an olive branch carried over her shoulder in a direct nod to the original Walking Liberty composition. NASA and American flag patches appear on her suit, and the Martian backdrop includes industrial structures suggesting active colonization, set beneath a looming planet in the sky. “LIBERTY” spells out across the top rim in the same positioning used on the previous Independence-themed release in this series.
