The obverse carries the first official British coin portrait of King Charles III, sculpted by artist Martin Jennings and introduced in late 2022. The uncrowned effigy faces left in sharp profile against a finely stippled field, surrounded by the Latin inscription confirming his royal titles and the £2 face value. The reverse presents Philip Nathan’s iconic standing Britannia — the same design first introduced for the Gold Britannia in 1987 and adapted for silver from 1997. Britannia faces right, her robes swept back by wind, trident raised in her right hand and a Union Flag shield held at her left. A trident rests at her feet, referencing her maritime association. The background incorporates four layered security features introduced in 2021: a laser-engraved wave pattern, a latent image visible only at specific viewing angles, tincture lines highlighting the Union Flag detail on the shield, and micro-text running along the rim reading “DECUS ET TUTAMEN” — Latin for “an ornament and a safeguard.” The designer’s initials “NATHAN” are visible at the base of the design. These features make the Britannia one of the most counterfeit-resistant bullion coins in the world market.
Each coin is supplied in a protective plastic flip. Multiples of 25 coins are packaged in Royal Mint acrylic tubes, and 500-coin Monster Boxes hold 20 tubes each — ideal for bulk stacking. The 2026 Silver Britannia is eligible for Precious Metals IRAs and is exempt from Capital Gains Tax (CGT) for UK-based investors.
