Colorized Silver Eagles pair government-issued bullion with artwork the Mint itself would never produce. This 2026 American Silver Eagle carries 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver with full-color enhancement applied to both faces, released for the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. The underlying coin is a genuine U.S. Mint issue, so the silver content and legal tender status are unaffected by the color work.
Key Features:
- Purity and Weight: 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver
- Metal Type: Silver, colorized both sides
- Obverse Design: Walking Liberty against the Manhattan skyline with the Twin Towers and Tribute in Light
- Reverse Design: Bald eagle landing on an American flag before the same skyline
The obverse keeps Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty and sets her into a colorized New York scene. Her gown and trailing drape are painted as the Stars and Stripes, with the star field across her shoulder and red and white bars running down the folds. She strides forward with her right hand extended and a bundle of branches carried at her back. Behind her, the Twin Towers stand lit against an orange and violet sunset, the harbor reflects the city lights, and two beams of blue light rise from the skyline to recreate the annual Tribute in Light.
The reverse presents the current eagle-in-flight design, colorized as a bald eagle descending with wings spread wide and talons reaching down onto a rippled American flag. Its white head and tail contrast against the brown body plumage, and the same skyline, sunset, and light beams fill the background.
The coin is sealed in a rigid display holder with color artwork printed across both insert panels. The front panel reads 9/11 MEMORIAL above the 1 OZ .999 FINE SILVER specification, while the back panel lists the weight, purity, American Silver Eagle designation, and Limited Mintage note. Silver filigree frames both windows.
