Platinum remains the least common metal in most bullion portfolios, and the 2025 1 oz Platinum Britannia offers one of the most direct ways to fix that. The Royal Mint strikes this coin in .9995 fine platinum with a £100 face value, the highest denomination in the Britannia bullion family, and backs it as legal tender of the United Kingdom. Investors get sovereign-minted platinum at bullion pricing, while collectors get a 2025-dated entry in a series that has run since 1987.

Key Features:

  • Purity and Weight: .9995 fine platinum, 1 troy oz
  • Metal Type: Platinum
  • Obverse Design: Martin Jennings portrait of King Charles III with 100 POUNDS denomination
  • Reverse Design: Philip Nathan’s standing Britannia dated 2025, with trident, Union Jack shield, and olive branch

The reverse presents Philip Nathan’s Britannia at the water’s edge, her figure caught mid-stride as wind sweeps her robes behind her. She wears a Corinthian helmet and raises a trident in her right hand, while her left arm steadies a shield carved with the Union Jack and holds an olive branch against it. The legend BRITANNIA climbs the left rim, with 2025, 1 OZ, and 999.5 PLATINUM completing the inscriptions around the border. The motto DECUS ET TUTAMEN, meaning “an ornament and a safeguard,” repeats in fine lettering within the design. A radial guilloche field fills the background and gives the coin a sharp, shifting brilliance under light.

The obverse bears Martin Jennings’ left-facing portrait of King Charles III, encircled by CHARLES III D G REX F D and the 100 POUNDS face value, all set against the same textured field. The Jennings effigy has appeared on Britannias only since 2023, making the Charles-era platinum issues a young subset of the series.

Each coin contains one troy ounce of .9995 pure platinum guaranteed by the British government and ships in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Platinum Britannias are struck in far smaller numbers than their gold and silver counterparts, which keeps secondary demand steady.

One ounce of sovereign platinum diversifies a stack in a way few coins can. Order your 2025 Platinum Britannia today.
