Platinum bullion coins are far scarcer than their gold and silver counterparts, and the Perth Mint’s Kangaroo is one of the few produced on an annual basis. This 2025 issue carries 1 troy oz of .9995 fine platinum, ships brilliant uncirculated in a protective capsule, and appeals to investors diversifying beyond the two traditional metals as well as collectors following the series year to year.
Key Features:
- Purity and Weight: 1 troy oz of .9995 fine platinum
- Metal Type: Platinum, struck by The Perth Mint
- Obverse Design: Effigy of King Charles III with 100 DOLLARS denomination
- Reverse Design: Red kangaroo mid-hop within a radiating border
The obverse presents King Charles III in left-facing profile, the portrait cut with fine strands through the hair and clean lines across the collar, tie, and lapel. CHARLES III and AUSTRALIA arc across the top of the coin, with 100 DOLLARS running along the lower rim between two raised dots. A beaded border encircles the design.
The reverse captures a kangaroo in mid-hop, body stretched forward with forelimbs tucked, powerful hind leg extended, and its long tail trailing behind for balance. The animal’s fur is textured across the back and haunch, and the head turns slightly toward the viewer. Behind it, the field is filled with a fine wave pattern that gives way to a ring of sharp radiating spikes running to the rim. AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO curves across the top, while 2025 1oz 9995 PLATINUM runs along the bottom. The Perth Mint’s P mintmark sits at the right edge of the design.
Each coin arrives sealed in a protective capsule and carries a $100 AUD face value as legal tender in Australia. At .9995 purity, the coin is IRA eligible. Platinum production is heavily concentrated in a small number of countries and yearly output is a fraction of gold’s, which keeps the supply picture tight.
For buyers already holding gold and silver, platinum offers a genuinely different market exposure in a sovereign-minted coin. Add the 2025 1 oz Platinum Kangaroo to your cart today.
