The half ounce Gold Eagle sits at a useful point in the series: real gold weight in a coin that stays affordable and easy to sell in a single piece. The 2025 issue carries 1/2 troy ounce of gold in the program’s traditional 22-karat alloy, backed by the U.S. government for weight, content, and purity. Gold Eagles remain the most widely traded gold bullion coin in America, which means resale is never a question.

Key Features:

  • Purity and Weight: 1/2 troy oz of gold; 91.67% gold with copper and silver, 16.965 grams gross
  • Metal Type: 22-karat gold, struck by the United States Mint
  • Obverse Design: Striding Liberty adapted from Augustus Saint-Gaudens
  • Reverse Design: Bald eagle portrait by Jennie Norris

The obverse carries Saint-Gaudens’ Liberty striding forward with a torch raised in one hand and an olive branch extended in the other, her gown caught mid-motion. Sunburst rays fill the field behind her, the Capitol dome sits at the lower left, and LIBERTY arcs across the top between rows of stars. The date 2025 appears in the right field.

The reverse was redesigned in 2021 and shows Jennie Norris’ close portrait of a bald eagle in profile, facing left. The engraving picks out individual feathers across the head and neck, and the eye and beak are rendered in sharp relief. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA curves across the top with E PLURIBUS UNUM and IN GOD WE TRUST below it. 25 DOLLARS runs along the lower left and 1/2 OZ. FINE GOLD along the lower right, with stars at each side.

The coin measures 27 mm across and 2.24 mm thick, with a reeded edge and $25 legal tender face value. Brilliant Uncirculated pieces come off the dies bright and fully struck, and ship in protective flips or tubes depending on quantity.

The 22-karat alloy makes Gold Eagles more scratch-resistant than pure gold coins, which matters if you plan to handle them. Order yours today and we will ship it insured in discreet packaging.
