In 2024 the U.S. Mint placed a privy mark on a bullion Silver Eagle for the first time in the program’s history, and it capped the run at 500,000 coins, the lowest mintage of any BU Silver Eagle ever issued. For comparison, standard Eagles routinely clear twenty million in a single year. Each coin holds one troy ounce of .999 fine silver with a $1 face value.

The obverse carries Weinman’s Liberty striding left toward a rising sun, the American flag draped over her shoulder and streaming behind, oak and laurel branches cradled in one arm. LIBERTY arcs across the top, IN GOD WE TRUST sits at the right, and 2024 appears at the base. The privy mark is a small five-pointed star placed in the lower right field beside Weinman’s AW monogram. It reads as a minor detail until you know what it signifies.
The reverse shows Damstra’s bald eagle descending to land, wings fully extended, talons reaching for a branch with an oak sprig beneath. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA curves along the left rim, ONE DOLLAR runs across the bottom, and 1 OZ. FINE SILVER and E PLURIBUS UNUM fill the right side.
