A Silver Eagle Set in Tile
This is a genuine 2024 American Silver Eagle, struck by the US Mint and then finished after it left the Mint with a mosaic bald eagle across the front and gold plating on the back. From arm’s length the front reads like a stained-glass window, with small chips of color forming one portrait of America’s national bird.
The Eagle Takes the Front
The usual Walking Liberty is gone from view. In her place, a bald eagle’s head fills the field in profile, white feathers built from pale gray and ivory tiles, a hooked gold beak, and one piercing blue eye looking out to the right. Behind it, a sky of deep and pale blue tiles runs to the rim, and russet and brown pieces at the bottom suggest the darker body feathers. LIBERTY arcs across the top in gold, IN GOD WE TRUST sits beside the beak, and the 2024 date is set in gold at the base.
A Landing Eagle in Gold
Turn it over and the color gives way to metal. The reverse carries the landing eagle design, wings raised and talons reaching for a branch, and the whole side is plated in gold. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR and 1 OZ. FINE SILVER all remain sharp and readable around the rim, so this side still looks every bit a Silver Eagle.
What You’re Paying For
Underneath the art is one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, the same as an untouched Silver Eagle. The finish carries the premium. Folks buy this one for the mosaic, and the price reflects that work rather than the silver weight alone. Colored and plated surfaces mark more easily than bare silver, so hold the coin by its edge.

2024 Silver Eagle Mosaic Edition FAQ
Did the US Mint make the mosaic design?
No. The US Mint struck the coin as a regular 2024 Silver Eagle, and the mosaic color and gold plating were applied afterward, outside the Mint.
Where did Walking Liberty go?
She is still struck into the coin, underneath the artwork. The mosaic eagle portrait covers the full field of that side, so only LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and the date show through in gold.
Is the back of the coin colored too?
The reverse has no colored artwork. It is gold plated from rim to rim, with the landing eagle and all of the lettering left in clear relief.
How much silver is in it?
One troy ounce of .999 fine silver. The color and plating add no silver and take none away.
How should I handle it?
By the edge, with clean hands or gloves. The colored front and plated back are more delicate than a bare silver surface and can scuff with handling.
