The American Gold Eagle is the official gold bullion coin of the United States, backed by the U.S. government for weight, content, and purity. The half-ounce denomination sits at a practical midpoint in the four-coin AGE lineup — carrying meaningful gold weight at a lower outlay than the full ounce while retaining the same iconic designs and the same federal guarantee. The 2024 issue arrives in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, fresh from the U.S. Mint.

The obverse carries Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ celebrated Liberty design, first introduced on the 1907 double eagle gold coin and adapted for the American Gold Eagle series at its 1986 launch. Liberty stands full-length, striding forward with a torch held high in her right hand and an olive branch extended in her left — symbols of enlightenment and peace. Her robes flow naturally with the motion of her stride, and sunburst rays radiate outward from behind her figure. A ring of stars circles the border, and the U.S. Capitol dome appears in miniature at the lower left, grounding the allegorical figure in American civic identity. The date 2024 is struck at the lower right.
The reverse presents the redesigned eagle portrait introduced by the U.S. Mint in 2021. Rather than the nesting eagle family of the original design, this version features a tightly framed close-up of a bald eagle’s head — feathers rendered with fine individual detail, the eye sharp and alert, the hooked beak prominent against the coin’s warm gold field. “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” arc across the upper field, with denomination and gold weight inscribed below. Designer initials “RG” and “JN” appear near the eagle’s head.
The American Gold Eagle’s 22-karat composition — alloyed with silver and copper for added durability — is standard for the series and does not affect the guaranteed half-ounce gold content. Each coin is struck at the U.S. Mint and ships in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
The 2024 half-ounce AGE combines government-backed reliability with one of the most recognized designs in modern bullion coinage. Add it to your cart today.
