Following a cancellation in 2022, the U.S. Mint has finally released their highly anticipated Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar proof coins. These coins celebrate the long history of U.S. mintage, as well as the legacy of some of the country’s most famous coins. 

 

Each set comes in certified NGCX, which is the highest possible rating a coin can receive. The coins arrive in certified NGC holder and are guaranteed to be First Day of Issue (FDOI). Initial plans to commemorate these two coins were scrapped in 2022, but the U.S. Mint has finally delivered with two bullion editions of America’s most iconic silver dollars. 

 

With a limited mintage of only 275,000, these coins sold out fast on the U.S. Mint website. We were able to secure a select number to bring to you.

Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars remain two of the world’s most recognizable circulation coins. These latest releases from the U.S. Mint pay homage to the unique history of both coins while bringing them into the 21st century with a beautiful uncirculated finish. 

 

The Morgan Dollar was first released in 1878 before being discontinued in 1904. A brief revival of the coin happened in 1921, meaning that 2021 marked the centennial anniversary of the coin’s last release from the U.S. Mint. As for the Peace Silver Dollar, it was produced from 1921 to 1935. Both coins are still popular collectors’ items, making the 2023 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollar Set an exceptional way to celebrate America’s incredible history of silver coinage. 

 

The original .90 silver dollars contained 0.7734 troy ounces of fine silver. The 2023 release of these coins will feature .999 pure silver bullion, totaling up to .859 troy ounces, adding even more fine silver to these commemorative pieces. The designs that decorated the Peace and Morgan Silver Dollars in the early 1900s appear on the modern variations, and the high silver purity combines with a brilliant uncirculated finish to give them a distinctly contemporary feel.
