The featured design for this coin is Phillip Nathan’s Britannia design. Britannia is the embodiment of Britain and is supposed to represent the strength and resilience of Britain. In Nathan’s portrayal, she is wearing a toga and a brush helmet on her head. In her right hand she is wielding a trident and in her right hand is an olive branch and a shield with a Union flag on it. Introduced in the 2021 coin, the 2023 Britannia Platinum Coin has four anti-counterfeiting measures integrated into the design. As you look at the reverse side of the coin, you will see a smaller trident than the one Britannia is holding. When you turn the coin a little you will see the trident turn into a padlock. Additionally, the waves in the background are another security feature. When you move the coin, the waves look like they are moving.
