Every year the Australian Platinum Kangaroo coin has the same design as the Australian Silver Kangaroo coin which does not change year-over-year. This is the case with the Kookaburra, Koala and the Gold Kangaroo coins, the other popular series from the mint. The exception is the 1 Kilo Gold Kangaroo coin.

 

The obverse side of the coin has Jody Clark’s, Queen Elizabeth II. Commissioned in 2015, this design has the queen wearing the George IV diadem crown and the royal jewels. The queen is facing right and Clark’s design is so detailed you can see the age lines in her face. Above the queen is ‘ELIZABETH II’ and ‘AUSTRALIA’. Below her image is ‘$100 DOLLARS’. 

 

On the reverse side is the image of a red kangaroo hopping to the left. This design was created by Stuart Devlin who was inspired by the 1936 copper penny design. Above the kangaroo is ‘AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO’. Below the image is ‘2023 1 oz 9995 PLATINUM’.
