The obverse of this coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Keeping with the tradition of showing the queen at different times in her life, this coin shows her at age 79. She is shown facing right in a simple dress with a pearl necklace and pearl earrings. Without her crown, she looks a little more casual but still looks regal. On her right shoulder is ‘SB’, the artist Sussana Blunt’s initials. Above the queen is engraved ‘Elizabeth II’. Below her is written ‘50 Dollars 2022’.
The reverse side of the coin is a sugar maple leaf, an icon to Canada which is seen nearly everywhere. This design by Walter Ott is a highly detailed design. The maple leaf is used by Canada in their flag, by their military, and even in their money. This leaf figures heavily into Canada’s history as it was used by aboriginals as a source for food and later used by European settlers as a source for sugar. At the top of the coin is ‘Canada’. To the right and left of the leaf is ‘.9995’ referring to the purity of the platinum. At the bottom is engraved ‘Fine Platinum’ and ‘1 Oz Platine Pur’. Also near the bottom of the coin is a small maple leaf which when looked at under a microscope reveals a ‘22’.
Purchased individually, each Canadian Maple Leaf will arrive in standard, protective flips for your convenience. Bulk options include tubes of 10 coins or Monster Boxes of 500 coins each, for a grand total of 50 tubes.
