On the obverse side of the 2022 ¼ oz American Gold Eagle coin is the famous Liberty design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Here Liberty is walking toward the viewer holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. To the left, at her feet, is Washington D.C. Around Liberty’s portrait are 50 stars. ‘LIBERTY’ is written above her head and ‘2022’ is at the bottom.
The reverse side of the coin features Jenny Norris’ new eagle design introduced in 2021. This design is a closeup of an American Bald Eagle looking to the left. The image is very detailed and you can make out its beautiful plumage as it goes from smaller feathers around the face into larger feathers at the neck. Norris’ captures the intensity of the eagle as it stares off in the distance. Above the eagle’s head is ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’. Just below this text in smaller font is the Latin phrase ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM’ which means “From many, one.” Under this phrase is ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’. At the bottom of the coin is ‘10 DOLLARS’ and ‘1/4 oz FINE GOLD’.

Gold. American government backed. As the post popular gold coin, it’s the easiest gold to barter or sell.
If liquidity is your primary concern, the American Gold Eagle coin is your Go-To coin. This is the brand and metal that can move. I especially like the fractional weights, as it makes it easier to work with, instead of tying up money in the larger denominations.
The only issue with the AGE Coin is the higher-than-average price compared to other gold coins like Canadian and British coins. If price is your primary concern, they are some of the obvious choices.
Hero Bullion is of course, amongst the cheapest of the online retailers, so buying here takes out a major portion of the price pinch. This 1/4 oz is the newest member of my bullion family, thanks to HB!
