The reverse of the coin has a two-headed eagle clutching arrow of lightning. This is supposed to symbolize Janus, the Roman god

The obverse side of the coin has a detailed depiction of a Chestnut Leaf and some chestnuts. Above the leaf and nuts is ‘1 oz. 999.9 FINE SILVER’. At the bottom edge is written ‘CHESTNUT LEAF’. The chestnut tree is very popular and has a rich history and mythology. The Roman armies actually planted them all over Europe. The tree was used in a variety of ‘miraculous’ recipes.
