2021’s release will mark the 35th annual distribution of the American Gold Eagle. For the 35th release, the U.S. Mint behind the American Gold Eagle shocked investors and collectors all over the world with an all-new reverse-side design. The obverse of this classic coin is also getting a small revision, although nothing so dramatic as the complete revamp on the reverse. The obverse of this coin was originally struck using a bronze cast, limiting the amount of detail that designers could put into the final product. The new design includes additional detail, bringing the classic American Gold Eagle coin into the 21st century on both the obverse and reverse. 

 

In addition to the original 1 Troy Ounce coin, the 2021 American Gold Eagle Type 2 is also available in three fractional denominations: ½, ¼, and 1/10. This is, as always, perfect for investors who want more liquidity with their gold bullion.
