The 1988-P 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle coin is a special coin for a lot of reasons. One reason is that it is a 1988 Gold Eagle which means they haven’t been in production for a long time. It is the ‘P’ version which means this coin was minted from the Philadelphia mint. This is a proof-quality coin so it is pristine. This coin was limited to only 143,881 coins. On top of all this, this coin is 1/10 oz which means it is a more affordable price point than a higher weight. So you can get a really special coin at a price that is actually affordable.

Key Features:

  • Made of 1/10 oz .9167 pure gold
  • Backed by the U.S. government (face value of $5).
  • Obverse side has Walking Liberty design with ‘LIBERTY’ written at the top, ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’ written to the right and ‘1988’ written at the bottom
  • Reverse side has an image of an eagle landing on a branch where another one is perched with ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA 5 DOLLARS 1/10  OZ FINE GOLD’ written around the image. To the right is ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM’

The Walking Liberty design was drafted in 1916 by Adolph A Weinman and quickly became a popular symbol representing the United States. This design, appearing on the obverse side of the coin, features Lady Liberty, originally seen as the Statue of Liberty, walking with the US flag flying behind her. She is carrying oak and laurel branches in her left hand and her right hand is outstretched. Behind her is the sun coming up over a hill. Above he is ‘LIBERTY’. Below her is ‘1988’. To the right of her is the United States motto, ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’.

On the reverse side of the coin is an eagle appearing to be landing on a branch with wings outstretched. Another eagle is already perched on the branch. Engraved above it is ‘UNITED STATES of AMERICA’. Below the image is ‘5 DOLLARS’ indicating the face value of the coin backed by the United States Government. Also at the bottom of the coin is ‘1/10 OZ FINE GOLD’. Above this in smaller text is ‘E PLURIBUS UNUM’ another more traditional motto of the United States which is Latin for ‘From many, one.’

This is your opportunity to be a special coin that comes in a special case at a price that doesn’t seem possible for a coin this special. The 1988-P 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle is a rare opportunity to buy something great and yet affordable. Get yours today.
