In 1972, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip celebrated their marriage in 1947. This was a big occasion for the monarchy celebrating  25th years the queen was married to her consort. There was a big celebration all throughout the realm. This coin captures the excitement and the significance of the occasion by putting both on a coin that usually only has the queen’s likeness on it. 

 

The obverse side of the coin has Queen Elizabeth II seen here very young. Perhaps this was what she looked like when she was a young bride in 1947. She is facing the right and is wearing a tiara. To the left of her picture is ‘CAYMAN ISLANDS’. To the left of her is ‘ELiZABETH II’. Below her picture is ‘1972’.

 

On the reverse side of the coin is a picture of Queen Elizabeth II with her consort, Prince Phillip. Both are facing to the right. Both look as they did in 1972. Above their head is ‘SILVER WEDDING ANNIVERSARY 1947-1972’. Below their portrait is ‘25 DOLLARS’.
