Many may not know the Isle of Man but it has been inhabited since 6500 BC. It became the Kingdom of the Isles when the Viking Norsemen came with King Magnus II. The Treaty of Perth in 1266 made the Isle of Mann a part of Scotland. Rule of the isle went back and forth between Scotland and England for 500 years. Today, Queen Elizabeth is the Lord of Mann and serves as the ruler of the isle.

The obverse features Queen Elizabeth II lovingly designed by Jody Clark. Clark’s rendition really captures her regal nature with great detail from the crown on her head to her dangle earrings. To the right of her is  ‘QUEEN ELIZABETH II’.  To the left is ‘ISLE OF MAN’. Below her image is the year of issue.

On the reverse side is the image of a viking ship. You can see the details on the shields affixed to the side of the ship and in the sails. Around the edge of the coin is a braided design all the way to the Triskele, the Isle of Man Coat of Arms at the top. Below the ship is “ONE OUNCE PLATINUM FINE”. At the bottom of the coin is ‘ONE NOBLE’.
