  The original HMS Bounty was commissioned and built in North England in 1784. The beginning years of the ship were characterized by a number of simple merchant missions, as businessmen distributed goods from England to the other ports of Europe. This period only lasted for about three years, as the ship was eventually purchased by the Royal Navy for official use by the British Empire. Armor and weapons were added to the ship, providing it with all the tools necessary to function as an official vessel for the world’s most powerful Navy.  Though naturally beautiful, the HMS Bounty only lasted a single voyage while working with the Royal Navy. It set out to acquire and bring back breadfruit plants from Tahiti to the West Indies, where they would hopefully be used as a food source for British slaves there. The ship’s crew conducted a mutiny in April of 1789, sending the captain and loyal crew of the vessel out to sea and claiming the HMS Bounty for themselves. They eventually burned the ship in 1790, where it was largely undiscovered until 1957.
