On the obverse of the coin is the pipe organ found in the Musikverein. This design was introduced in 1989 and designed by Thomas Pesendorfer. The large pipe organ seen here sits at the center of the Golden Concert Hall. Above the organ is ‘REPUBLIK OSTERREICH’. Below the organ is ‘½ UNZE GOLD 999.9.’ Under this text is the year ‘2022’ in this case. At the very bottom is ‘50 EUROS’.
The reverse side of the coin has several instruments that appear in the orchestra. This design is the original design by Pesendorfer that debuted in 1989. At the center is a cello framed by two violins on the left and on the right. Behind the cello and violins are a french horn, a bassoon and a harp. Above the instruments is written ‘WIENER PHILHARMONIKER’.
