A New Jersey law passed in 2024 exempted many precious metal products from sales tax collection, making it easier than ever for investors to save money while collecting the coins, bars, and rounds they love.
According to the new law, non-monetized bullion products are exempt from sales tax collection in New Jersey, regardless of monetary value. Monetized bullion, coins and bars considered legal tender by a sovereign government, are subject to sales tax collection only if the value of the coin or bar fails to exceed $1,000. This minimum value refers to the value of the individual coins in an order and not the total value of your order.
Copper products and accessories are still taxed in New Jersey, as of May 2025.
