The discovery of the Terracotta Army in rural China is widely considered one of the most significant archeological achievements of the past two centuries.

 

Most people understand the origin story of the incredible army of statues. The 8,000 sculptures were originally crafted to guard former emperor Qin Shihuang in the afterlife.

 

Just imagine being the group of Chinese farmers who uncovered this wealth of 8,000 unique statues. Since its discovery, the Terracotta Army has become a cultural landmark, both in China and all over the world.
